2871R 2008cc Dyno B6A4
« on: April 27, 2009, 10:29:01 AM »
Here are the dyno plots:

Highest HP: 2871R apr3+ kit with tweaked WG to hold more boost (32psi in 3rd gear).  2008cc fully built motor with fully built head, 3651 cams, 2.5" exhaust, AMB small port head
Eurocode fueling kit (fuel pump, 8--+cc injectors) stock fuel line.  R8 throttle body with custom ported stock small port intake mani, new beta software. VR6 maf housing, stock air box  Using stock N75 and maf plugged in

2nd: Same as above minus tweaking of WG, ecode fueling kit, was on older revo 550cc file, stock TB and mani, 550cc inj, Using AVCR EBC, maf unplugged, vr6 maf housing, stock air box (25psi)

3rd: 1984cc motor fully built bottom and head, gtrs, avcr ebc, maf plugged in, stock maf housing, stock air box (23psi)

4th: stock 1.8t with gtrs, 430cc inj, 440 file, avcr ebc, maf plugged in, stock maf, stock air box (22psi)

All dynos done on 104oct.  As you can see, elevation +  dyno rollers with poor fans = much more spool lag on the dyno rollers.  Every one of these setups hit full boost 500rpms sooner on the street.  The newest setup spools the quickest.

UNCORRECTED at 6000ft in elevation:

Here is uncorrected and smoothing at 5.

Here is SAE corrected smoothing 0 just for shits and giggles since it doesn't actually count.  Cut the correction factor of 1.22 in half so it is as low as a 1.11 correction factor (which is real low) will still put me at ~423whp at sea level.

Nice, very nice! I bet Nick@mac is still going on and on about the 2871 being his fav turbo. When I get back to the shop computer i think i can illustrate that there is still 20-40 hp more left in your setup. I made only 55 less peak UC hp @ 10 less psi on a bone stock AEB with a prehistoric ECU. That was with 2871 elim with nonpresciption E65 which is no where as good as 104 race gas.

He said that's the highest HP 2871R .64 ar he's seen there.  He was shocked that I was running my 2871 at such high boost.  Was telling me I should throw on a 3076R WG.

An illustration would be tits!!!  Would be cool to squeeze even more out of this setup.

Uh OH, got the stage 3 B5S4 guys on me now huh?  I'm right in their HP/TQ range now but with a lack luster power curve compared to them.  I'd better be on my rev and shift point game or I'll get taken lol.  Better keep her in 3rd around town ;)

Nice. I was just looking at the 2871r for my stock setup with 415's from 034. Good numbers to see. I might do their T04 kit though on 91.

415cc injectors?  Seems a tad small but I'm sure you can get away with it.  Don't expect to slap on a eliminator 2871R and make 300awhp on pump gas cause you might be disappointed.  Mine is a full framed T25 2871R turbo BTW, not an eliminator 2871R kit like 034 sells...

Oh JR, your everywhere!

2 comments then lets leave this thread on topic

IMHO 28rs Eliminator is a much better choice for you. spools much better at altitude (600-900 earlier) and is a better match for a stockish motor. I personally would chose it every time. I did one on a B6 and it rocked. Should have dynoed it. I however had it built with an actual RS compressor cover without all the ill fitting adapter bs, and a lower pressure wastegate actuator to give OE n75 better control

415's well love them but won't cut it. First off Bosch rates Volvo R "green giants" at 415cc and they will officially be called this but they flow more like 430-450cc. Its been proven many times. Its been my experience that they are undeniably bigger than 430 "blue giants". In the above 28rs B6 car I maxed out 440's at 21 psi. I ended up using 580's

3076, i'd hold off for now

yep there is more in that poor 2871. We all know your no longer on the comp map in fact if you were to plot it it would miss the paper and land on the desk, so fecking what!

Stg 3 b5s4 will have trouble if you can lessen the power fade. Since boost is falling much less than half as fast as your torque either your motor won't swallow the air or your ecu and/or tune can't understand the dyno load rate. believe me i understand the dyno challenge vs real world

Yeah, you should! [devil]

Great job Jordan. You must be stoked. You can really tell the difference between those plots. The new software and bigger intake manifold have really opened up that car for you.

Thanks Doug, I am happy with the gains over last dyno (45whp uncorrected).  Plots like this help the whole community out.  It's good to see all these different setups layed out like this on a graph to show the people what each of these different kits does on the same car, same dyno.  Even though the dyno is nothing like driving it on the street it still paints a picture of how far I've come.

jayryan, you live in high elevation (4Kft+)???  I had no clue.  If I knew that I would have told you to go with a 28RS originally like Todd mentions above.  That is why I'm running such a small turbo, even on a 2.0L.  Elevation sucks the life out of motors/turbos!
